Newmarket OCC Results

At the recent Ontario Fencing Association Challenge Circuit event held in Newmarket, Loyalist Fencing club fielded 4 competitors.  Angus McFadden came out of the preliminary pool ranked 7th, but upset the number 2 ranked fencer in a tough quarter final match to move on to win the bronze medal in the U15 Mens’s Sabre competition.  Christine Pfeiffer, fencing in her second tournament in as many weeks, took her second silver medal of the season in Veteran Women’s Foil.  Fencing in their first provincial-level tournament against a Senior Men’s épée field predominated by varsity athletes, were 15 year olds Ryan O’Dwyer and Owen Benjamin.  After a 3 and 2 run in his pool, O’Dwyer won his first round direct elimination bout to make it to the tableau of 16.
